Settemazze

Grown at our original Montemiletto vineyard in Irpinia, Campania, this wine was historically the favoured wine of the Roman empire. This fresh, dry red is deeply concentrated, high in tannin, revealing an abundance of black fruit, tar, and recognisable earthy flavours. If able to resist being drunk, this ancient wine can be long-lived and worth cellaring for that special occasion.

This wines high acidity, naturally compliments barbecue based flavours. Its high tannin leaves it craving flavours from rich meats with high fat content that absorb and bind flavours. Those with more of vegetarian persuasion with relish its compliment to flavours with a rich umami note, like black bean and soy sauces, tempeh and dishes enhanced with roasted mushrooms.
